Motorola to Launch iSIM in INDIA

Sweet news came to all mobile users in India from Motorola. They have announced that they are in talk with telecom service providing companies to launch iSIM in India, which is a brand new concept. This iSIM allows a user to keep up to four phone numbers by using a sing SIM card i.e. no need to buy 4 SIM separately. STK (SIM tool kit) is the thing which controls the iSIM wafer attached to the SIM card inside the mobile and also it allows building new applications over it.

“We are in talks with all Indian players for our intelligent SIM (iSIM) application. We hope to strike a deal in the second quarter of this financial year,” Motorola (India) Country Head (Home & Networks Mobility), Subhendu Mohanty told Business Standard.

One best thing about this is that users can use 4 different numbers belonging to same network or different networks using a single SIM. This is possible due to IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) profiles which represent unique 15-digit number and in turn each IMSI represents mobile number. iSIM can hold up to 4 IMSI as said above.

Another added feature in iSIM is “Killer SMS” which helps in blocking the mobile when it lost. While other countries are going to witness its launch before 2010, India can expect it anytime in the next year.

Thanks to Motorola
